The Cooler Master Silencio line of quiet enclosures with built-in noise isolation has not received updated models in its range for more than five years. Meanwhile, Fractal Design, be quiet!, Corsair and Phanteks have firmly secured leadership in this segment. And only now Cooler Master have once again entered the fight for the hearts and budgets of quiet computer hardware enthusiasts, releasing the Silencio S600 model and its smaller version S400. Naturally, we will not miss the opportunity to examine in detail the older model S600 in this review. Note that the chassis is sold not only with a metal left panel, but also with a tempered glass door that allows you to see all the contents.

Packing and scope of delivery

The packaging of the case looks simple, but informative. Everything is done in a standard and familiar way: monochrome printing, the image and name of the product on the front, listing the advantages on the back and tables with technical specifications on the sides. Foam dampeners and bags protect against damage, carrying handles are available on both sides.

Appearance

The appearance of the Cooler Master Silencio S600 turned out to be too strict in places — it is an even parallelepiped without the slightest hint of rounded corners. The front panel is a metal door with a barely visible company logo in the central part. By default, it opens to the right side and is held on magnets, but the hinges can be easily moved to the left.

The opening angle is 90 degrees. On the reverse side of the door, a thick layer of soundproofing is glued. On the front panel at the top there is one 5.25″ bay, covered with a solid plug. When closed, the door rests on it without a gap. The entire lower part of the slightly recessed front is occupied by a removable dust filter grille. Air enters here through the side and bottom holes with a width of 12 mm. By the way, the edges on the sides are made of glossy plastic and, given the constant air flow in this place, they will have to be wiped from dust very often.

Behind the dust filter mesh, you have direct access to the fans. It is positive that for their installation or dismantling it is not necessary to remove the front panel completely. However, the round slots are designed for the diameter of 120mm propellers and it is a little pointless to put 140mm models here.

All external ports are concentrated near the right side of the top panel. The start button is made in the form of a rounded hexagon of the CM logo, along the perimeter of which a white system power indicator is built. The system reset button is made somewhat strange, because in shape and size it resembles a USB port and an overload can be caused by accident by poking it with the connector of the same “flash drive”. It also has a small strip of drive activity built into it. Next up are two gray-colored USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one twin 3.5mm headset jack, and an SD card reader slot.

The sidebar on the left is divided into two parts. The bottom is the wall of the power supply casing. And flush with it on top is, in fact, the left door itself. The removable panel can be made in two versions — metal or tempered glass. In both cases, it is removed by sliding back and tilting to the side. It is held on by two metal knurled screws and has a handle to facilitate the dismantling process.

The metal sidewall is glued on the reverse side with a layer of noise insulation. It is heavy and bendable. Metal guides are glued to the sidewall made of tempered 4 mm glass at the bottom and top. The glass is completely transparent. Mounting screws are held on the doors, it is almost impossible to lose them.

The right side panel is metal, smooth and solid for the entire height of the case. Opens by sliding back. It is held on by two screws with a metal knurled head and is also equipped with a stamped handle.

A layer of soundproofing material is also glued on the back of the door.

On the top panel there is a large rectangular vent, covered with a plastic overlay. In this form, the case can be used instead of a shelf.

If more ventilation is required, the cover can be removed. To do this, it is enough to pick it up by the recess on the edge and pull it up. It is held on by a magnetic strip and two loops. On the reverse side of the plastic cover there is a layer of noise insulation. Two 120- or 140-mm fans, or CBO radiators of the appropriate size can be hung on the honeycomb grille.

To prevent dust from entering the case when idle and to give it a more aesthetic appearance, the top grille can be covered with the included magnetic dust filter.

Cooler Master Silence S600

The reverse side of the case is made as standard. One 120mm fan can be mounted on the ventilation grille by adjusting its height within 20mm. There are seven expansion slots, all covered with reusable vented plugs. To the right of the slots, two screws hold a decorative plate covering the mounting hole. The seat of the power supply is located at the bottom, the mounting holes on it allow you to position the PSU with the fan down or up.

Cooler Master Silence S600

At the bottom of the case there is nothing interesting besides the ventilation grille of the power supply, covered with a simple dust filter made of a metal mesh. A small protrusion on the bottom of the front panel makes it easy to remove if necessary.

Plastic legs in a metal cage have a height of only 10 mm.
