Top-end and improved versions of video cards receive special attention in the reviews. But in the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti series there are many simple models that do not stand out for powerful cooling, but have the most affordable price, attracting a mass buyer. Among those is the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC Gaming. Together with the usual Gaming, these two cards are the simplest GeForce GTX 1050 Ti from EVGA and one of the cheapest solutions in this series on the market. Let’s see what this card can offer the consumer, how efficient its simple cooler is, what is the overclocking potential. Let’s also compare EVGA with a similar ASUS Cerberus GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, since both options are very close in their characteristics.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC Gaming (04G-P4-6253-KR) comes in a small box. The large inscription Superclocked hints at something pretentious. However, the actual factory overclocking is very modest, and the entire EVGA SC (Superclocked) series refers to simple solutions that are slightly accelerated relative to the standard settings.

Before us is a small compact device. The total length of the EVGA SC is only 15 cm, while the cooling takes up two slots and visually looks quite good because of the impressive fan.

The video card is covered with a black plastic casing with a catchy design. The fan looks unusual due to the special bending of the blades.

When examining the rear side, one can note the presence of a warranty seal, which prevents the dismantling of native cooling.

On the side of the case there is a panel with the name of the card. The power connector is missing.

Three ports are provided for image output: DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI.

A typical budget radiator without heat pipes is hidden under the case.

The one-piece black radiator has a massive core and divergent petals.

Similar designs are often used in budget graphics cards, and the ASUS Cerberus uses almost the same heatsink, albeit cooled by a pair of fans.

In this case, there is only one fan, but with a size of 90 mm. This is the Power Logic PLA09215S12L model. The special shape of the impeller should contribute to noise reduction. Such fans are used even in the most powerful EVGA graphics accelerators.

The GP107-400-A1 processor operates with 768 stream cores and 48 texture units. Four gigabytes of memory are filled with Micron microcircuits marked 6VA47 D9SXD.

The base core clock has been increased from the standard 1342 MHz to 1354 MHz with an average Boost Clock of 1468 MHz. The effective memory frequency is equivalent to 7 GHz.

Like many non-powered graphics cards, the EVGA SC Gaming has strict power limits, and GPU frequencies vary widely within the given limits. With a peak boost of 1810 MHz in Subnautica, the frequencies slightly exceeded the level of 1709 MHz, in Final Fantasy XV the frequencies were kept in the range of 1721-1754 MHz with slight increases at certain points.

When testing on an open bench, the core temperature did not exceed 57–58 °C (indoors 23 °C). The video card turned out to be even a few degrees colder than ASUS Cerberus. There are no complaints about the noise, the fan runs at low speeds.

The core overclocking results can be called standard for the budget GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, although they are slightly higher than those of the mentioned ASUS video adapter. But the main gain regarding Cerberus is in memory. Here, the GDDR5 modules easily took the bar at 9 GHz, running into software restrictions on overclocking. It is possible that the memory could work at slightly higher frequencies.

With a base value of 1509 MHz, the real Boost frequencies were kept in the region of 1800-1830 MHz (peak values up to 1962 MHz). The power limit cannot be increased, so Boost cannot be stabilized. Although through editing the frequency / voltage curve, you can achieve a better frequency balance.

In rare applications, frequencies were closer to 1900 MHz. Of particular note is Call of Duty: WWII, where the 1936 MHz bar was stably held.

By increasing the fan speed to 40%, we kept the initial level of heating even at the highest load. Noise remained low.
